Human Resource Development (HRD) has become a must for all categories of employees in all organizations. Trained and developed human power is the greatest asset to an organization. Organization performance depends on employee performance, and it is a basically a function of employee capability and employee motivation. HRD will have a significant direct effect as well as indirect effect on employee capability and employee motivation. Hence this course is about HRD from a micro perspective.

To provide a systematic and rationale approach to the analysis and handling of issues in HRD with special reference to Sri Lanka.

At the end of this course, students will be able to;
• Understand the concepts, process and practices of HRD
• Handle common issues in HRD
• Develop training and management development programs
• Develop career plan
